Scaling enterprise digital experience

Scaled digital operations across more than 900 web properties, 15 divisions, and nearly 10 business units through enterprise governance, platform modernization, workflow design, and team integration.
The context
My career began in web content and front-end development and expanded into regional and enterprise digital leadership. As the organization’s digital footprint and business needs grew, my responsibilities evolved from producing individual web experiences to designing the systems, teams, standards, and governance required to support digital work at enterprise scale.
The challenge
Digital operations had grown across regions, business units, platforms, and teams. Different operating practices, inconsistent intake, increasing demand, platform complexity, and varying quality standards made it difficult to scale reliably. The organization needed to increase capacity while creating a more consistent approach to governance, accessibility, workflow, quality, and enterprise platform adoption.
The approach
Enterprise governance Established common standards, roles, review processes, and accountability across regional and enterprise web teams. Platform and workflow modernization Supported the evolution of Sitecore-based digital capabilities and standardized how work moved from request through development, review, and publication. Service-model design Clarified how enterprise teams, regional stakeholders, and business units engaged with digital services. Team development Built and integrated teams, established onboarding and operating practices, and developed leaders capable of managing increasing scope. Quality and accessibility Embedded stronger expectations for digital quality, governance, and accessible experiences.
What changed
The digital operating model ultimately supported more than 900 web properties across 15 divisions and nearly 10 business units. The work created a more scalable foundation for enterprise platform adoption, clearer governance, more consistent workflows, and stronger coordination between technical, marketing, content, and business teams.
My role
I progressed from hands-on web development into enterprise digital operations leadership, with responsibility for digital governance, workflow design, platform enablement, team development, stakeholder partnership, and continuous improvement.
What I learned
Digital scale is not achieved solely through technology. It depends on the relationship between platform design, operating processes, service expectations, governance, team capability, and organizational decision-making.
